How to read this dashboard

Reading the map

Each marker is one reported event. Select a marker to see its type, severity, time and a link to the original report. Use the buttons under the map to switch layers on and off, change the base map, or flip between the globe and the flat view. Active tropical storms are drawn with their recent track and forecast cone where the sources provide them.

Severity levels

Every event is rated low, moderate, high or extreme. For earthquakes we map magnitude to these levels: under 4 is low, 4 to 4.9 moderate, 5 to 5.9 high, and 6 or more extreme. For disaster alerts we translate GDACS's Orange and Red levels to high and extreme. These ratings are ours and estimate potential concern, not confirmed damage.

How fresh is the data?

Earthquake and alert feeds are checked every few minutes and storm tracks every fifteen. Sources publish at their own pace, so an event can appear minutes or hours after it happens, and early details such as magnitude are often revised. Every item shows its source so you can check the latest figures there.

What this is not

GlobalRisk is a situational-awareness tool built from public data. It is not an emergency warning system and it does not predict events. For evacuation orders and safety instructions, follow your national and local authorities.

About GlobalRisk

GlobalRisk is a real-time global risk monitoring platform that aggregates and visualizes publicly available information about conflicts, natural disasters, severe weather, aviation activity and other significant events.

Data Sources

GlobalRisk draws on public news feeds, official emergency-management and geological sources, satellite and fire detection systems, aviation tracking data, and other reputable public data providers. Examples include Google News, USGS earthquake feeds, NASA EONET, GDACS, NOAA, and public aviation trackers where available.

Methodology

Events are collected from multiple sources, normalized into a common schema, categorized by type and severity, filtered for relevance, and displayed on the map and feed in near real time. Source quality, reporting lag, and regional coverage can vary by feed and by event. Read the full methodology and source list or the About page.

Important disclaimer

This dashboard is for informational and situational-awareness purposes only. Data may be delayed, incomplete, or occasionally inaccurate. It is not an official emergency warning system and should not replace local authorities, official alerts, or professional guidance.
